Review: Wonder
This week’s review is brought to you by my little brother Book Boy Jr (aged 11).
Title: Wonder
Author: R.J. Palacio
Publisher: Random House Children’s Publishers UK/ Penguin Books Australia
About the book: Wonder is a book about a boy named August Pullman who was born with a facial abnormality that makes him look different. This is the story of his journey through life and his first days at real school. Auggie, as he’s known, has been home-schooled and at first he finds school hard but soon acquires new friends and begins to like it.
What I thought: Wonder is a gripping, heartwarming and, overall, lovely book. I really enjoyed this book because I love how it’s told from different perspectives and how you get to hear everyone’s point of view of the situation. My favourite characters were Jack and August. August is a unique character with a kind heart, but life isn’t easy for him.
I recommend Wonder for boys and girls for 10+ and I think a lot of kids would learn a lot from reading the book.
